Symantec has announced the availability of Symantec Business Continuity Management (BCM) Services in the Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) region.

These services are the latest offerings from Symantec Global Services to help customers improve their overall IT risk posture. Symantec BCM offerings include Business Continuity Assessment Services and Business Impact Analysis Services, and provide localised and tailored continuity and disaster recovery services to multinational and local companies.

Business continuity solutions are vital to organisations as any interruption to routine business processes can impact brand, reputation, people and business partners. Most notable is the potential for lost revenue and its affect on employee productivity, customer relationships and potential legal consequences. According to Symantec’s white paper, "Business Continuity Essentials", 93 per cent of businesses that suffer significant data loss are no longer in business after five years.

Symantec’s Business Continuity Assessment Service reviews a company’s business continuity management strategy based on industry guidelines and best practices and identifies any gaps that may exist in this strategy. The Business Impact Analysis Service uses a sophisticated and customisable methodology that identifies business continuity risks and determines the impact of incidents on a customer's business in terms of tangible and intangible measures such as legal obligations, reputation and cost. The methodology also determines urgency of risks, recovery priorities and objectives so any recovery strategy is aligned with business requirements.
