Stratech Systems has been
awarded a S$6 million contract by the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore
(CAAS) to provide the next-generation Vessel Height Measurement System (VHMS
III). The system is expected to go into service in 15 months.
The ability to provide vessel height surveillance is crucial for airports
that have their take-off and landing flight paths over water and the sea to
ensure minimum height clearance in the aircraft flight zone.
Stratech’s VHMS III for CAAS is powered by VIPS (Vessel Image Processing
System) which we built in partnership with MPA (the Maritime and Port
Authority of Singapore) and co-funded by EDB (the Singapore Economic
Development Board), said Dr. David K.M. Chew, Executive Chairman of Stratech.
"It enables the continuous measurement and automatic computation of vessel
height, which is an enhancement over existing systems.”
Stratech’s VIPS is the next-generation Vessel Traffic Management System for
port, ship, and waterside strategic asset protection, security and
surveillance. VIPS employs advanced computer vision techniques to detect,
identify, track and predict the path of vessels. The intelligent algorithms
of VIPS are capable of performing vessel measurement of key characteristics
such as height, shape and size to validate against Radar and AIS (Automated
Identification Systems) information.
A core capability of VIPS is Vessel Height Surveillance System (VHSS) – an
automated solution which integrates Radar, AIS and vision-based Height
Measurement - designed to ensure safety of aircraft flight paths and
structures over water, as well as vessel traffic security and surveillance
for maritime, waterside and off-shore assets.
Founded in 1989, Stratech Systems is principally engaged in the design,
development, integration, implementation, maintenance and project management
of information technology and advanced technology systems. The Group
delivers large-scale complex, real-time, mission-critical systems in the
areas of intelligent Vision, intelligent Transport Systems and
e-Systems for governments and businesses. |
