The University of
Nottingham Malaysia Campus has selected Blue Coat SG appliances to
accelerate the delivery of applications and content across its Wide Area
Network (WAN), from its main campus in Semenyih to its Teaching Centre in
Chulan Tower, Kuala Lumpur.
"Before installing Blue Coat appliances, applications and file access
waiting time at our remote campus was unacceptable," said Lotus Ong, IT
Support Manager, The University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus.
Prior to installing Blue Coat appliances, students experienced long waits to
access centrally stored files. In addition, unauthorised Internet activity,
including the use of peer-to-peer file sharing and streaming media consumed
the network, and often made it unusable.
"Slow response time jeopardised our reputation and even threatened our
ability to serve students remotely. The Blue Coat appliances have changed
all that, plus given us the security and control we need to protect our
students, data and resources," Ong said.
Blue Coat SG appliances accelerated the performance of the University's
applications by a minimum of 50 percent and improved remote file access time
from minutes to seconds.
Because the appliances recognise and manage users, applications and content
- and can accelerate important traffic, stop bad traffic and control
anything in-between, a single platform now provides for all of the
University's application delivery needs. |
