Thai footwear manufacturer goes live with Infor ERP System 21

Muang Thong Mahachai, a leading manufacturer and distributor of footwear in Thailand, has gone live with Infor ERP System 21.
 
This next generation ERP solution from enterprise software provider Infor comprises financial, distribution and manufacturing modules, which allow Muang Thong Mahachai to detect demand changes, reforecast, rebalance inventory allocation and optimise their product schedules.

The company decided to switch to System 21 due to the inability of their previous solution to process large amounts of data and incorporate important detailed information related to shoe manufacturing.

"We were looking for a vendor who could fulfil two basic criteria: functionality and good service," said Surasak Jinapun, Vice President of Muang Thong Mahachai. "Infor had the deep domain expertise that could provide us with the best solution for efficiency improvements."

Through a web-based user interface, System 21 allows the company to automate its key manufacturing and financial processes. The built-in business-specific functionality helps Muang Thong Mahachai to minimise waste while increasing quality and productivity. In addition, the solution enables the company to manage the style, size and colour matrix throughout the production process to minimise the cost of quality.

Jinapun added, "We have increased productivity and achieved added efficiency as a result of the improved control of our operations and inventory delivered by the Infor system."

Muang Thong Mahachai, he said, benefited from:
- Better control over their inventory,
- Proper communication of exact delivery date of goods to customers,
- A reduction in the complexity of material billing,
- Improved planning in purchasing of raw materials,
- Clearer data for ease of management decisions.

The ability to track attributes and actual lot costs with specification matching and corrective preventive action (CAPA) is also included, further minimising the cost of quality and compliance.

In the first year after using Infor ERP System 21, the company has seen increased efficiency and reduced operational costs of THB10 million (US$300K).
