Telin Singapore, a fully-owned subsidiary of PT Telkom Indonesia (TelkomGroup), has officially opened its third data centre in Singapore, at the Data Centre Park in Jurong.

Telin-3 is the first data centre in Singapore to receive Uptime Institute’s (UTI) Tier-IV design certification, which ensures that it adheres to stringent risks, safety and data security industry guidelines required by various industry verticals. Apart from Tier-IV design certification, Telin-3 has also achieved Tier-III Constructed Facility certification from UTI. These credentials will facilitate the data centre in meeting the highest standard of mission critical data centre service and reliability, which are key customer requirements.

Speaking at the official opening of Telin-3 on 22 November, Septika N Widyasrini, chief executive officer of Telin Singapore, said the carrier neutral data centre will enable TelkomGroup’s submarine cable systems to connect seamlessly with Telin Singapore’s domestic fibre network. “This well-connected network infrastructure will position Telin-3 as a telecommunication hub as well as the gateway to Indonesia and to the rest of the world.”

Featuring a five-storey 20,000 sq m purpose-built area with multi-tier design, Telin-3 will aid Telin Singapore in delivering data centre solutions that span across compute, storage, networking and service management. This will, in turn, enable private and public cloud systems and platforms to meet the growing demand for a digital business environment in Singapore, as well as in regional and global markets.

The launch of Telin-3 follows the opening of Telin-1 and Telin-2 in the country. Established in 2009, Telin-1 offers a range of services including colocation, Internet gateway and disaster recovery. Telin-2 is located in a carrier hotel and provides access to multiple cloud services, global and regional carriers as well as Internet service providers.

The Singapore facilities are expected to complement the network of data centres operated by the TelkomGroup in Indonesia. They include Tier III data centres located in Serpong (Tangerang Selatan), and Sentul (West Java) in addition to a Tier IV data centre in Jatinegara (Jakarta), amongst others.
