Alcatel-Lucent has
announced its involvement in SingTel’s pay TV service, mio TV, which was
launched on 20 July 2007.
mio TV is expected to revolutionise the way Singapore watches TV. Unlike
other services, which require customers to be tied to program schedules and
rigid tier packages, mio TV allows subscribers full flexibility to watch
what they want at any time.
mio TV is based on a combination of Alcatel-Lucent’s services integration
solution and the Microsoft Mediaroom Internet Protocol television (IPTV) and
multimedia platform. Alcatel-Lucent will provide a complete services
integration solution that brings together the network infrastructure,
software platforms and integration skill sets required to deliver a superior
user experience.
Subscribers will be able to program recordings in advance and over the
Internet when they are not at home. In the near future, they will also be
able to do so via their mobile phones. The interactive and flexible mio TV
platform will also open up even more opportunities for innovative services
in the future. Subscribers will have the option of using video conferencing
and instant messaging, displaying photos and playing music from their PCs,
all on their TV set.
“SingTel is confident in Alcatel-Lucent’s system integration expertise in
deploying end-to-end IPTV networks and integrating solutions from key
partners. Our partnership with Alcatel-Lucent enables SingTel to pioneer
advanced and innovative pay-TV features to the customers,” said Allen Lew,
CEO Singapore, SingTel. |
