StarHub, in partnership
with Indosat, is providing customers who travel often between Singapore and
Indonesia the ability to access their Singapore mobile phone number and an
Indonesian mobile phone number from one SIM card.
Called The OneSIM Indosat, this roaming service will provide StarHub Mobile
post-paid subscribers hassle free access in both countries without changing
their SIM card. It will also enable them to remain easily contactable on
both their Singapore and Indonesian numbers as the same phone will be able
to simultaneously receive calls and SMSes directed at these two numbers.
In addition to the convenience of carrying only one phone and a single SIM
card in Singapore or Indonesia, customers will only need to maintain one set
of contact lists, as well as manage a single mobile subscription account.
Subscribers will also enjoy the added benefit of discounted roaming call
charges when using the service in Indonesia via the Indosat network.
“This service will provide added convenience to our customers that travel
frequently overseas for business. Having both numbers in a single SIM card
avoids the hassle of carrying two phones or switching SIM cards in order to
be contactable on a local number when overseas,” said Anil Nihalani, Vice
President, Mobile Services, StarHub.
The OneSIM service, he said, is the first of its kind introduced for those
who travel frequently to Indonesia, with other top business destinations to
be added in future.
The service is available for $5 monthly, while roaming usage in Indonesia is
charged at 20 per cent discount on prevailing rates for Indonesia roaming
voice calls. Subscribers need to be connected to the Indosat network while
in Indonesia.
