AXS InfoComm, a subsidiary
of DBS, has announced the pilot launch of D-Pay, a new service that provides
its customers with a wider variety of payment modes for the services on its
AXS Stations.
D-Pay is able to connect directly to multiple banks and financial
institutions like Visa, Mastercard, Diners and EZ-Link to offer consumers a
greater choice of payment modes on the AXS Stations.
Incorporated in 2000, AXS InfoComm launched its own AXS Network with the AXS
Station terminals as the access points to the public. With over 500 AXS
Stations island-wide, AXS has grown to become Singapore’s largest
transactional terminal network, providing e-services from over 120 private
and government organisations.
AXS will progressively roll out D-Pay at about 100 AXS Stations islandwide
from now till the end of 2008. DBS and POSB customers will be the first to
enjoy this new service during the pilot phase. Other financial institutions
that have indicated interest in participating in D-Pay include Citibank,
HSBC Bank, Maybank and Standard Chartered Bank.
“With the support of our largest shareholder - DBS - and the participation
of other partner banks in D-Pay, we are confident that D-Pay will not only
be able to offer to consumers a wider choice of fulfilment for the AXS
Station users but also new banking functions and features. The creation of
D-Pay completes AXS’ strategy as an ESDN provider, where customers can
access our transactional services using different payment modes,” said Joey
Chang, CEO of AXS InfoComm.
During the pilot phase, those AXS Stations offering D-Pay will carry a
prominent logo for easy identification. To use D-Pay to carry out
transactions at AXS Stations, customers of DBS, POSB and in future, other
participating banks, only need to insert their ATM card and key in their PIN
in exactly the same way as they would with an ATM.
To complement D-Pay, we are also completing the work to accept major credit
cards on our payment terminals. This product will be called C-PAY and is
targeted to be launched sometime next year, added Chang. “We are also in
discussion with EZ-Link to accept ez-link contactless card transactions on
the AXS Stations.”
The launch of D-Pay will fully complement AXS’s position in the market and
its future plans to provide the services on AXS Stations over other access
points such as Home AXS terminals, Internet and Mobile phones.
D-Pay is expected to be fully rolled out to over 500 AXS Stations by the end
of 2009. |
