IT market research firm
Springboard Research has released its latest Webcast detailing the "Top Ten
Trends in Enterprise IT" that technology vendors can expect to see in the
next 12 to 18 months.
The predictions are:
- Consumer technology will influence enterprise IT
- Web 2.0 hype to continue
- Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) to become broadly accepted
- Wireless Internet will drive enterprise mobility solutions
- Service-oriented architecture (SOA) to become mainstream in enterprise IT
- Green IT will become important
- Open source will be broadly accepted to become business as usual
- Strong business intelligence demand will lead to real-time analytics
- IT for emerging markets will flow back to the developed world
- Indian IT firms will make bold acquisitions
Bob Hayward, Vice President-Research for Springboard Research and the
presenter of the "Top Ten Trends in Enterprise IT" Webcast, said vendors are
entering an interesting era with rampant collaboration and competition and
these trends and technologies are helping to drive this. "These trends
involve accessing, distributing, leveraging, and using information in new
ways and that is creating revenue opportunities for vendors that are
innovating with their customers."
Another macro trend we are seeing is that technology is moving more out of
the sole domain of the technology department and is being democratised, with
other parts of the business having the ability to make technology decisions,
explained Hayward. "Trends like consumer technology's increasing influence,
Software-as-a-Service, mobility, and Green IT are in demand from outside the
IT department, which is creating opportunities for IT vendors to sell to
business users, and broaden their marketing and sales approaches to more
prospects than just the CIO," he added. |
