Business infrastructure
software company Software AG recently announced a new strategic partnership
and OEM licensing agreement with Cognos, a global provider of business
intelligence and performance management solutions.
Under the terms of the agreement, Software AG will embed Cognos 8 Business
Intelligence (Cognos 8 BI) as the reporting and analysis standard for future
editions of the webMethods product suite.
“The marriage of BI and BPM (Business Process Management) is designed to
deliver more actionable insight. By combining real-time and historical data
on a single dashboard, users can more readily respond to business changes
and more quickly optimise process performance,” said Dr Peter Kürpick,
President and Chief Product Officer for the webMethods business division of
Software AG.
Cognos 8 BI provides the full range of BI capabilities – reporting,
analysis, scorecarding, dashboards, business event management, and data
integration – within a single, proven architecture. Its flexible management
and visualisation of data helps users transform information into insight
with output options including advanced personalisation and customised
distribution.
This integrated offering will deliver business intelligence in the context
of a process task, ensuring that insight is readily available when it is of
most value to knowledge workers and business managers, said Matt Green,
Product Line Director for Process Applications, Software AG.
“By bringing business intelligence together with business rules and BPM,
we’re empowering users to make changes and enhancements right at the point
of interaction instead of weeks or months later,” he said.
Current users of the webMethods product suite may add Cognos 8 BI as a
supported feature immediately. Pricing is available from an authorised
Software AG representative. Additional information on subsequent product
releases will be made available at a later date. |
