Responding to growing
global customer demand for integrated hosting and network services, Savvis,
a global provider of IT infrastructure services for business applications,
has announced plans for a significant expansion to its existing data centre
in Singapore.
The expanded Singapore facility will provide a broad range of IT
infrastructure services including co-location, managed hosting, virtualised
and utility computing, managed networks, and security, to meet the
requirements of enterprise IT within the Asia Pacific region.
In addition to the Singapore facility, Savvis has recently announced a new
data centre in London and significant expansion to its data centre in the
New York metropolitan area. Both the Singapore and London data centres will
offer Savvis Proximity Hosting to key financial exchanges. Initially, the
expanded Singapore facility will offer direct connectivity and low latency
network access to the Singapore Exchange (SGX).
Noted Tan Aye See, Managing Director of Savvis, Asia Pacific, “The Asia
Pacific region is experiencing tremendous growth and this creates pressure
on companies to manage their IT infrastructure to meet its growth
requirements and at the same time manage their costs.”
She added, “With Savvis’ infrastructure as a service strategy, businesses now
have the option to remove the burden of running their IT operations and
increase their focus on business growth. Our offering in Singapore will give
companies here access to our full portfolio of managed hosting, networking,
utility computing and security solutions.”
As part of its aggressive expansion plans, Savvis has also recently acquired
the Geo-Tele data centre in Singapore. Over and above the acquisition,
Savvis will be making further substantial investment into Singapore to
upgrade and increase the footprint in the current facility. The total
facility in Singapore is expected to be approximately 18,000 sq ft of raised
floor space. |
