IT security solutions and
services provider RadianTrust has partnered SATO International, a pioneer in
the Automatic Identification and Data Collection (AIDC) industry and a
leader in barcode printing, labelling, and Electronic Product Code/Radio
Frequency Identification (EPC/RFID) solutions, to market an anti-counterfeit
labelling solution through a unique blend of thermal printer and optical
watermarking technologies.
The two companies are collaborating to offer affordable, secure label
printing solutions to the market to counter the rise of counterfeit labels
and products. This collaboration, which uses ordinary consumables, addresses
a widening latent need of the market to be able to embed anti-counterfeit
security features in labels in a cost effective manner.
Tang Weng Sing, General Manager of RadianTrust, said this partnership offers
a layered approach for secure packaging, labeling and brand security.
“RadianTrust’s optical watermarking technology makes it difficult for
counterfeiters to illegally repackage original brand name items, thus making
counterfeits easier to detect.”
The anti-counterfeit labelling solution offered by RadianTrust and SATO
provides an affordable all-in-one solution that adds security to product
packaging to give end-customers the assurance their branding is being
protected.
The anti-counterfeit labelling solution complements the EPC/RFID tagging of
products by adding an additional layer of security. By ensuring that the
watermark on the label changes upon copying, customs officials and other
relevant parties who need to verify the authenticity of products can
determine if the labels are copies.
“SATO is pleased to offer our customers an additional security feature which
will differentiate the genuine products from counterfeits simply by
integrating our thermal printers and ordinary labels with the optical
watermarking technology without the use of special inks or papers,” said Lim
Yee, Managing Director of SATO International Asia Pacific.
“Eliminating the need to procure expensive consumables or engage operational
support means lower overheads. Going forward, our customers can look forward
to more of such cost-saving innovative solutions.” |
