Sun Microsystems has
officially opened its first authorised Sun Solution Centre in Asia South.
Located in Ingram Micro Asia, Singapore, this new facility functions as an
extended arm of its Sun Solution Centre and is targeted to cater to the
needs of companies, especially SMBs, for product demonstrations and for
building proofs-of-concept. This facility is also open to both system
integrators and corporate end-users.
"We believe in the power of the community to solve challenging problems, by
working with Ingram Micro to deliver technology as a competitive
differentiator, the authorised Sun Solution Centre brings together
state-of-the-art technology and expertise in simulated environments where
our clients and partners can envision, build, and test innovative business
solutions," said Ong Chee Beng, Managing Director, Singapore.
This centre offers customers resources to help them effectively make
purchasing and implementation decisions, and improve total cost of
ownership. It also features a rich array of products, programmes, solutions,
and partners to deliver targeted customer-driven horizontal and vertical
solutions to help improve business processes.
In addition, customers and partners can expect access to Sun technologies
like the Solaris 10 Operating System and Sun Fire servers, as well as core
competencies such as competitive analysis and best practices.
The centre also offers collaborative workshops, solution architectures,
proof-of-concepts and prototyping, blueprints, system architectures,
performance testing, and benchmarking, among other customer-oriented aids.
Sun's partnership with Ingram Micro for this facility enables customer and
partners including Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) and SIs to have 360
degree views of their IT projects - from planning to testing to deploying.
The centre has a real-world environment that customers can leverage to
quickly and securely solve integration challenges and promote
interoperability across multi-vendor solutions. It also provides customer
focused assistance with the entire solution implementation process, from
brainstorming to developing pilot programmes.
Ong added, "Sun is confident that by working with Ingram Micro, it can
extend its presence into the SMB market in Singapore, which is expected to
invest US$3 billion this year to strengthen their information communication
technology (ICT) infrastructure, up 6 per cent over last year’s level." |
