InfoPrint Solutions
Company, a joint venture between IBM and Ricoh, has announced its Asia
Pacific headquarters in Singapore to spearhead business development,
marketing and other functions for the company’s regional operations.
“Of the company’s four business divisions, Asia Pacific offers the largest
headroom for business growth. Singapore’s pro-business environment, good
infrastructure, sophisticated workforce and socio-political stability make
it an ideal location for our regional headquarters,” said Benoît Chatelard,
InfoPrint Solutions’ Singapore-based General Manager for Asia Pacific.
The Singapore office will grow InfoPrint Solutions’ regional headcount,
which has approximately doubled since the company’s formation last year, by
another 30 per cent from now till end-2008.
The planned new hires in Asia Pacific are part of InfoPrint Solutions’
overall plans to hire 500 new staff globally in November. Separately, the
company will absorb 1,200 IBM employees on June 1. These headcount increases
will increase InfoPrint Solutions’ global staff strength, which is currently
approximately 1,500, to about 3,200 by end-2008.
The new Asia Pacific hires will fill positions including solutions
development, systems integration, customer sales and after-sales support for
the company’s eight regional offices including Singapore, China, India and
Australia.
“Establishing our regional head office here illustrates InfoPrint Solutions’
belief that Singapore is an ideal base for the company to coordinate Asia
Pacific business operations and drive overall profitability,” added
Chatelard.
The company will make significant investments across Asia Pacific over the
next three years in job creation, skills training, business development,
product rollouts and other areas.
Upcoming product rollouts in Asia Pacific over the next 12 months include
laser and multifunction workgroup printers, impact and thermal industrial
printers, and continuous form and cutsheet production printers.
InfoPrint Solutions expects total Asia Pacific revenue to grow by 100 per
cent over the next three years. The Asia Pacific region currently
contributes 5.9 per cent of InfoPrint Solutions’ global revenue of US$1
billion, and this percentage is expected to increase as the company’s
regional business grows. |
