Fortinet, the provider of unified threat management (UTM) solutions, has expanded its FortiGate-3000 Series of multi-threat security appliances with the introduction of two new products – the FortiGate-3810A and the FortiGate-3016B – and a series of expansion modules for enterprise and MSSP applications.

Next-generation networks and bandwidth-intensive applications are changing the way people and businesses use the Internet, but also bring about higher requirements for security and performance, said Richard Stiennon, Chief Marketing Officer for Fortinet.

Delivering up to 26 Gbps of firewall performance, the FortiGate-3810A and FortiGate-3016B appliances are ideally-suited for network core and data centre deployments, and also address the stringent requirements of service providers seeking to build service offerings based on the FortiGate platform.

Additionally, hardware-accelerated gigabit Ethernet interfaces are available for all FortiGate-3000 Series platforms to enable wire speed firewall and near wire speed VPN performance to ensure time-sensitive applications like VoIP or IPTV do not suffer from network latency or jitter.

Addressing customers' requirements for a flexible and scalable performance solution, the new FortiGate systems accommodate the option of modular Advanced Mezzanine Card (AMC) expansion, which provides hardware accelerated ten gigabit XFP interfaces as well as gigabit SFP interfaces and hard drive storage options. The AMC specification, also known as AdvancedMC, is an open standard developed by the PICMG consortium to meet the next generation needs of carrier class hardware.

The FortiGate-3810A, FortiGate-3016B and related modules will be available in Q3 2007 through Fortinet's network of channel partners worldwide.
