Regional IT and
communications solutions provider Fujitsu Asia has announced the MHZ2 BT
series of Serial Advanced Technology Attachment (SATA) hard disk drives (HDDs)
for the ASEAN and India markets.
Incorporating a 2.5-inch form factor, the MHZ2 BT series includes two models
with storage capacities of 500 gigabytes (GB) and 400 GB. The maximum
storage capacity of 500 GB is the highest for any 2.5-inch SATA HDD
commercially available today.
Both versions offer a maximum data throughput rate of 3 gigabits per second
(Gbps) and a spindle speed of 4,200 revolutions per minute (rpm), for fast
read and write times.
The series is announced as part of Fujitsu’s Green Policy Innovation
programme to promote energy-efficient IT products and services. Both models
consume only 1.8 watts of power when reading or writing data.
“The worldwide demand for high-volume data storage capabilities has
increased with the rising popularity of digital broadcasts and online video
distribution. Yet, with heightened concerns over global warming and other
environmental issues, there is also a growing need for energy-efficient
products. Fujitsu has responded to these twin needs with the MHZ2 BT series
of HDDs that offer large storage capacities with a reduced ecological
footprint,” said Loh Chong Shing, Regional Senior Vice President of Fujitsu
Asia.
The MHZ2 BH series of SATA HDDs will be available for the ASEAN (including
Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines and Vietnam) and India
markets beginning May 2008. |
