(Singapore), CMC Telecom (Vietnam), The AIMS Asia Group (Malaysia) and T.C.C
Technology (Thailand) have announced the formation of the Data Centre
Alliance (DCA), which has a combined space of more than 45,000 m2 and a
projected annual turnover of US$77 million by 2009.
The announcement was made at the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)
between Intel and the DCA to accelerate Green Data Centre deployments in the
region. The alliance will become one of the biggest data centre operators in
the south-east Asia region catering for first-tier telcos, government
agencies, banks and other businesses.
“This Data Centre Alliance sets the precedence for ASEAN data centre service
providers to join forces and collaborate in enabling region’s enterprises to
stay competitive in the global economy,” said Subra Shankhar, Intel APAC
Enterprise Solution Sales Director.
The data centres within the DCA will meet Tier III and above standards as
stated by the Data Centre Tier Classification from Uptime Institute. They
will also be using ISO27001 as reference for the information security
management system (ISMS), a quality management system (QMS) as per ISO9001
and an ISO20000 reference for IT Service Management Standard.
The Data Centre Alliance is an opportunity for our regional Alliance
partners to extend our services by providing a comprehensive suite of
regional data centre solutions to meet the regional business needs of our
customers, said Yow Tau Keon, Managing Director, 1-Net Singapore.
"Leveraging Intel’s silicon innovation, regional telcos, service providers,
MNC business customers can count on the Data Centre Alliance partners to
take care of their business needs and provision of data centre services
using state-of-the-art energy-efficient technologies."
One of the key objectives of the DCA is to develop Green Data Centres by
applying modest energy saving technologies as the contribution for reducing
the greenhouse effect and global warming. Intel was selected by the DCA due
to its silicon technology leadership and the breadth of its experience in
data centre solutions.
Intel shall advise and cooperate with the DCA in applying
green/energy-efficient solutions that analyse and optimise the energy usage
of transformers, UPS, Air-Conditioner and memory.
The collaboration enables the members of the DCA to have early access of
Intel technology, facilitating the provision of customised data centre
solutions that best address the needs of enterprises competing in the ASEAN
region as well as the global economy. This includes early access to Intel
processors, platform and other products through technology seminar, review
systems, and test samples.
Subject experts at Intel and the alliance members will form a virtual
taskforce for knowledge sharing and evaluation for strategic technologies,
such as Intel Virtualisation Technology and Intel vPro technology.
Intel also committed to open its data centre for visit and organise seminars
with its data centre experts. |
