Fujitsu Asia unveils ScanSnap for Asean markets

Regional IT and communications solutions provider Fujitsu Asia has launched the ScanSnap S510 colour A4 scanner for the Asean markets.

Compatible with Windows Vista, Windows XP and Windows 2000 operating systems, the ScanSnap S510 digitises A4-, B5-, A5-, B6- and A6-sized documents, business cards as well as documents of various custom sizes. Using the bundled carrier sheet, the scanner can also capture photographs, newspaper clippings and A3 or B4-sized printouts.

The ScanSnap S510 offers four modes of operation (Normal, Better, Best and Excellent) to give users greater control over the quality and size of output image files. In Normal mode, A4-sized documents in portrait orientation are scanned at 18 pages per minute (ppm), with output resolutions of 150 dots per inch (dpi) and 300dpi for colour and monochrome documents respectively. In Excellent mode, A4-sized portrait documents are digitised at 0.6ppm, with colour and monochrome documents having output resolutions of 600dpi and 1,200dpi respectively.

The auto size detection feature allows documents of varying sizes to be scanned in a single batch. The auto deskew and auto image rotation functions align skewed text and orientate scanned pages respectively, while the blank page detection capability automatically removes blank images.

The ScanSnap S510 comes bundled with the ScanSnap Organiser V3.1 software for users to organise the output Portable Document Format (PDF) or Joint Photographic Experts Group (JPEG) files different folders. The device also incorporates optical character recognition (OCR) technology, thus allowing users to search the contents of individual PDF files.

The new Fujitsu ScanSnap S510 colour A4 scanner is priced at S$899.
