Regional IT and communications solutions provider Fujitsu Asia has announced the new ETERNUS SN200 series of fibre channel switches.

Designed for customers ranging from small- and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) to large enterprises, the series comprises two products – models 540 and 485.

Motohiko Uno, Head of Regional Marketing Group, Fujitsu Asia, said with the explosive growth of information in recent years, storage requirements are getting larger and more complex, and therefore companies need more efficient solutions for managing their networks.

“The SN200 series of fibre channel switches by Fujitsu Asia represent efficient solutions for meeting end-user needs while offering sufficient headroom for future growth in storage requirements,” he said.

Model 540, designed for enterprise-class SAN environments, supports a maximum of 256 ports and offers a maximum data throughput of 1,024 gigabits per second (Gbps). In comparison, Model 485 is a mid-range device supporting as many as 32 ports with up to 128Gbps of fibre-channel connectivity.

Both models also serve as common points of management for consolidated SANs with centralised data backup facilities, offering benefits such as:
- minimised operational costs
- reduced data backup times
- simplified disaster recovery regimes
- greater flexibility in server and storage expansion

The ETERNUS SN200 models 540 and 485 are priced at S$77,000 and S$25,000 respectively, and are available for the ASEAN markets.
